Established in 2003 to provide research, testing and consulting services to the packaging and plastics industry.The principal service provided at this facility is the evaluation, improvement and development of packaging materials, packages and package systems.
The purpose of packaging research, testing and consulting is to provide unbiased evaluations and to report the results in compliance with published industry standards based on ASTM, DOT, ISO, ISTA, NMFC, TAPPI, and USDA

At the Cal Pack Labs, faculty is engaged in solving industry problems in real-world situations. The research, testing and consulting services provide faculty with research opportunities in the packaging environment and ultimately apply the experience gained to the classroom environment.
The testing, research, and consultation service provides students with educational and employment opportunities in the packaging arena. Through this experience, students learn proper techniques for testing, product evaluation and research methods while getting exposure to real industry problems.
