Cal Pack Labs seeks to pursue the development/improvement
of packages/package systems as related to the distribution environment.
Its purpose is to provide unbiased evaluations of packaging systems
and to report the results in compliance with published industry
standards based on the organizations and departments at right.
The customers for Cal Pack Labs Research, Testing
and Consulting Services (Cal Pack Labs) are involved in some aspect
of the packaging industry. Testing/research can be stand-alone or
in conjunction with other lab(s) on campus as well as other sites
off-campus.
The Cal Pack Labs have equipment capability and faculty skills
that enable Cal Pack Labs to offer packaging research, testing and
consulting services to the packaging industry. Research results
will be recorded in conformance to industry standards. Specially
trained student technicians play a vital role in performing tests
and are supervised by a faculty member.
The Principal Investigator (PI) is responsible for acquiring and
maintaining the standards associated with packaging testing, research,
and consulting. The PI arranges the product evaluations and/or research,
sets up the tests, trains the student technicians, supervises the
tests, interprets the test results, writes the reports, and coordinates
the project as required. The PI is also responsible for the maintenance,
operability and security of all related test equipment.
